According to the Gregorian calendar, New Year Day is actually the first day of the year. It falls precisely 1 week after the Christmas day of the previous year. Happy New Year custom started in the past age, and the 31 dec party happens on night before this day. In present times, people who follow Gregorian calendar celebrate this day on 1st January. But for people who use Julian calendar, have Happy New Year celebration on 14th June of the Gregorian calendar. This is because of the differences in the two calendars.

Tradition of New Year is the oldest of all the holidays celebrated all around the world. Happy New Year celebration first of all took place in Babylon around four thousand years back.
